She pretends to believe the Recall is a loser. But then, why is she fighting it so hard? Near as I can tell, her social media is pretty much 100% anti-Recall propagandizing. It must be sucking up huge amounts of her time and energy. When does she have time for DA’ing? But then again, she’s not really a D.A., she’s a criminal defense lawyer.
Take a look at her Facebook page, where she’s freaking out about the Recall. Since the beginning of this year, every one of her posts is anti-Recall campaigning that deliberately mischaracterizes the SAFE (Save Alameda For Everyone) movement, with the sole exception of a post she put up about Tuan Le, the murdered Oakland cop whose killers’ fate is now in Price’s hands. In that post, Price pretended to mourn Le’s death—and yet, one post later, Price used Officer Le’s killing to cynically attack SAFE. Price has proven time and again that she cares more about criminals than the murder of police officers.
What else is Price peddling in her losing campaign to hang on to her job by any means necessary? Lies and more lies. She’s resorted to Trumpian insults of her opponents: We’re “election deniers.” LIE: We’re not denying the results of the 2022 election. Pamela Price won; now that we know how pro-crime she is, we’re recalling her. She says we’re breaking the law by signature-gathering. LIE: She managed to get a picture of a Recall table where the signature gatherer is just out of the camera’s range, making it appear the petitions were unguarded. She then accused SAFE of leaving “people's private information out in the open.” That’s pretty desperate.
Price goes on to accuse SAFE of claiming that “DA Price is responsible for all crimes in Oakland.” LIE: Nobody ever said that. Name one SAFE person who said that! You can’t, Madame D.A., because it never happened. She screams we want to “overturn the election” as if we’re akin to the Jan. 6 Insurrectionists. Another LIE. Recall elections are guaranteed by the State Constitution and the Alameda County constitution. Resorting to constitutional law isn’t quite equivalent to overthrowing the government. Price is alleging that SAFE “do[es]n’t have the signatures” to qualify for the ballot. LIE: we have until early March to gather them; and besides, Price is in no position to know how many signatures we already have. She alleges “Any signature collected by a person who doesn't live in Alameda County cannot be counted as a valid signature for a recall, per the Alameda County Charter,” but the truth is that the State Constitution makes no reference whatsoever to the home county of signature gatherers. Since California law clearly is sovereign to a mere county regulation, Price’s claim is absurd. She put up a manipulative photo of herself supposedly praying at a Chinatown “Unity” rally, in order to persuade the AAPI community that she really respects them (and in the photo are those two other well-known crime fighters, Nikki Bas and Carroll Fife, lol). And she repeats the biggest lie and slur of all: "DA Price has been targeted by a large, far-right movement aimed at extinguishing progressive reform across the country." LIE! The Recall movement is fueled by thousands of Alameda County residents who know that Price is a clear and present danger to public safety, and a reverse-racist as well. I’m willing to wager that most Oakland voters who signed the Recall petition are Democrats. How dare Price imply that we’re other than good, patriotic, law-abiding Americans!
The one thing Price won’t tell you, in all her babble, is how high she’s paid. At least, I think she’s highly paid. I’m a good Googler but even I couldn’t find out after 10 minutes of intense Googling an answer to such a simple question as Price’s salary. But I did discover that Price’s predecessor, Nancy O’Malley, made, in 2022, with salary and benefits, a total of $569,104. Maybe if I were Pam Price, I’d be fighting to keep my cushy job too.
Price’s desperation is evident in everything she does. She hears the firing clock—tick, tick, tick—inching closer to her removal from office. It keeps her up at night, worried and depressed. She thought she’d be able to get away with her soft-on-crime, hard-on-victims nonsense, with her racist coddling of criminals. But she found out, much to her chagrin, how badly she miscalculated. Big mistake, Madame D.A., big mistake. You didn’t think this thing through; you just went for power. People in Alameda County fear and resent you. In your year as D.A., you’ve been a rampant failure; crime has soared to intolerable new highs under your watch while you’re out there campaigning. But you have succeeded in one thing: confirming the public’s conclusion that you’re unfit to hold office. No wonder people are lining up to sign the Recall petitions. They’ve perceived the enemy, Ms. Price, and it is you.
