Further evidence of Pamela Price's racism

Several members have urged me to write about Pamela Price’s latest excursion into racism—a secret workshop she sponsored for her staff called “How To Serve White Victims.”

At first, based on the title, I thought Madame D.A. had published a cookbook! But no: as the Wall Street Journal’s Heather MacDonald notes, the workshop is Price’s ongoing attempt “to divide people by race.”

Price apparently hired an “anti-racist consultant” to give a PowerPoint training workshop to her (Price’s) Victim Services Division (VSD). The workshop was meant to train the VSD’s social workers to help crime victims obtain psychological and financial support during the traumatic aftermath of being a crime victim. According to MacDonald’s account, after the workshop, “Ms. Price thanked Ms. Fleshman for her wisdom and support.”

Ms. Fleshman is Karen Fleshman, the anti-racist consultant. One of her PowerPoint slides, entitled “Key Takeaways,” included this stunner: “White people are not entitled to harm you.” As MacDonald notes, it’s unclear how white crime victims are in a position to “harm” the DA’s social workers, who are trying to help them. But, adds MacDonald, another slide claimed that “White Supremacy Culture” is always at work with white people, and is the reason why there exists a “racial disparity in prosecutions and mass incarceration of Black and Brown people.”

We’ve covered this many times before. A basic disagreement seems to exist between Black activists, who constantly harp on this “racial disparity” and blame it on institutional racism, and those of us to whom common sense—and statistics—prove that more people of color are in jail because they commit more crime. This directly relates, of course, to Price’s policy, now that she’s D.A., to “foreswear higher sentences for particularly egregious crimes if those higher sentences would ‘result in disparate racial impact.’” MacDonald uses this analogy: “If a White person uses a gun during a crime…he might face an enhanced sentence based on that gun use. If the defendant is Black, however, he will be charged at the lowest possible level to avoid disparate racial impact.” Indeed, this bizarre, racist point of view seems to inform everything Price does, which is why so many families of crime victims, particularly Asians, are so horrified by Pamela Price.

I know that the Recall Price people are aware of the Wall Street Journal article, and I hope that they will add it to the already long list of reasons why Pamela Price, as racist as any KKK member, is clearly unfit to hold her office, or any public office for that matter. We know that her dedication to the cause of “social justice” is matched only by the fierceness of her resentment of White people. In Pamela Price we really have the seed corn of a future authoritarian state in which Black people hold all the keys of power and White people are viewed (as Elijah Muhammed, of the Nation of Islam, proclaimed) as “the blue-eyed, blond-headed Devil!” I do not for a moment suggests that all Black people subscribe to Price’s (and Fife’s, and Thao’s, and Bas’s, and Cat Brooks’s) lunacy. Clearly, and thankfully, they do not. But the cadre that has been burrowing into our social and administrative systems for decades has finally achieved some degree of power, and they are, to put it bluntly but accurately, racist.
