Madame D.A. is out there hustling for money so she can keep her job in the face of mounting public support for recalling her. She recently sent out a donation pitch with a cover note packed with disinformation and outright lies. I love exposing B.S. like this, so here goes. Price’s cover note is lengthy, so I’ll comment only on the silliest statements.
“As you may be aware, corporate news outlets have been running a crime narrative that has at times confused viewers about the true responsibilities and jurisdiction of the District Attorney’s Office.”
Price’s first con is to slander the “corporate” media. Oakland progressives hate anything “corporate,” except when they’re soliciting money from corporations, so Price is fast to get that dig in. As for “running a crime narrative [that has] confused voters,” that makes it sound like the current crime wave is just a figment of some rightwing reporter’s imagination. The numbers, however, prove that runaway, historic crime in Oakland is not “a narrative” but a statistical fact. Violent crime up 21% from a year ago. Aggravated assault up 12%. Robbery up 34%. Knife attacks up 40%. Residential robberies up 60%. Auto burglary up 41%. Auto theft up 51%. Madame D.A., do you deny those numbers?
Price also said, "The mission of the district attorney's office is to advance an ethical and equitable system of justice, protect public safety, support survivors and witnesses, uphold the rights of the accused, and sustain a safe and livable community through fair, transparent, and responsible administration of justice."
What does “equitable” mean? In the woke world, it means “equal outcomes,” in the sense that Price wants arrests by race to equal the percentage of racial groups in the general population. And yet, as we all know, certain racial groups commit the majority of crimes, which is why they’re overrepresented in the jails and prisons. Price will never admit this fundamental truth because she’s ideologically incapable of it; it’s also personally embarrassing for her. But we, the public, know what’s going on.
“In essence, the District Attorney's office is committed to ending mass incarceration, rooting out racial, socioeconomic, and gender disparities, providing compassionate support for harmed individuals, creating innovative programs to enhance the lives of vulnerable populations, and guiding youth toward a brighter future.”
“Ending mass incarceration”? By that, Madame D.A. means shutting down the jails and prisons and letting everyone go free. Great! That’s just what we need in Oakland. Make no mistake, that’s what Price means when she talks about “decarceration.” And there she goes again with the “disparities” talk. Sorry – but somebody has to speak truth: If Black people stopped committing so many crimes, there wouldn’t be any disparities! As for “Guiding youth toward a brighter future,” that means giving violent muggers a few therapy sessions, preferably with neo-Panther sociologists, instead of throwing these feral felons behind bars where they belong.
“Creating innovative programs to enhance the lives of vulnerable populations.” Ahh, I love this one. She’s referring to the Department of Violence Prevention, a total scam whose purpose is nothing less than to funnel money that could be used to hire more cops into sketchy “programs” run by Price’s con artist cronies. Who are Price’s “vulnerable populations”? They’re the thugs who assault little old Asian men and women, who break into cars, who are committing mass acts of organized retail theft (thereby driving businesses out of town). They’re the hoodlums who are carjacking your wives and moms and engaging in gang warfare on the freeways, where every so often a little kid is killed by a gangbanger’s bullet. These are Price’s “vulnerable populations.”
“We believe it's crucial for the public to have accurate information about the District Attorney's Office's mission and responsibilities. By staying informed, we can collectively combat misleading narratives and protect the progress we've made.
“Accurate information”? You won’t get it from Pamela Price or her stooges, who are out to convince the public that there’s nothing to see here; just ignore the piled-up bodies, and don’t worry about the shuttered shops. But you will get accurate information here, at the Coalition for a Better Oakland, where we call bullshit when we see it.
Finally, just yesterday Price sent out another fundraising pitch in which she says “Youthful criminals involved in serious offenses…are in fact removed from the community by the Alameda County Probation Department. They are not just getting arrested and walking away.” Oh, really? Sorry, Madame D.A., we’re not stupid. If these criminals are on probation, they are not “removed from the community.” They out there on the streets, maybe popping in to see a probation officer once a week. That’s all part of Price’s strategy of “decarceration.” She’ll be happy when there are no more prisons, but how will you feel, readers, when the streets are teeming with violent perps because that’s how Pamela Price likes it.
