This new message from Carl Chan:
Join the Fight to Save Lives: Support the Recall Pamela Price Campaign
Dear Steve,
In the last three weeks, your incredible support has helped us exceed all expectations in gathering recall signatures. In order to maintain our momentum, we need additional funding through your donations.
Your generosity will sustain rapid signature gathering through paid gatherers and grassroots volunteers.
Make a difference today by clicking here to donate. Your contribution directly influences our campaign's success to recall Pamela Price.
We are profoundly grateful for your dedication to the recall campaign. Together, we can forge a safer community.
Warm regards,
Carl Chan, Brenda Grisham and the Recall Pamela Price Team

(This is Steve) I urge everyone to send a few bucks to the team. The money goes, mainly, to pay for professional signature gatherers. While we’ve been recruiting many of you as volunteer signature gatherers—and you’re doing a great job!—it’s the professionals who cover the ground full time. We need both teams to get this done.
Price knows she’s an endangered species. She’s spending all her time pretending she’s really tough on crime. Can you imagine? For example, she wrote on the District Attorney’s Facebook page: “The Alameda County DA's office is determined to reduce gun violence in our community.” When I read that, I almost spat out my coffee. She’s only saying it because she knows that most voters in Alameda County believe she promotes crime and is easy on criminals, especially of color. So she spreads this horse manure. Look, if Pamela Price was determined to reduce gun violence, she’d bring the toughest possible charges against shooters. Instead, she’s ordered her staff not to file enhancements, which results in sentences of probation instead of imprisonment, and in most cases not even to charge criminals below the age of 25. She brags about the few instances in which she actually brings charges against murderers, which are rarer than hen’s teeth. She makes a big deal about fighting human trafficking. Yes, that’s good, but it’s a red herring to distract attention from her real intention, which is to “decarcerate,” i.e. close down the prisons and turn all the criminals loose. She claims to be combating retail theft but tell me one thing she’s done to stop it; Oakland’s continuing epidemic of store closures is proof Price is doing nothing to deter shoplifters. This is Price’s Potemkin Village—putting up a false front while continuing to go soft on criminals.
Well, the public isn’t buying it. Carl Chan says the signature gathering is going like gangbusters. We do have the problem of that discrepancy between county and State law regarding recalls; we’ll just have to see how that plays out. If Price succeeds somehow in getting a court to throw out the Recall, that will simply destroy what’s left of her reputation and turn the public even more against her.
Back on Monday. Have a great, safe weekend!
