Price gets an earful

It’s been more than three years since the Coalition for a Better Oakland started warning everyone that our city’s woke, extreme-leftwing politicians were turning Oakland into a dumpster fire.

At first, few heeded our message. But now the truth has spread into every corner of the city. Last night, Truth spoke loud and clear in Montclair, where Madame District Attorney got an earful from hundreds of furious voters who lined up to get their chance to speak at a Town Hall on crime and violence. As Price once again arrogantly proclaimed that she’s always right, the people told her in no uncertain terms: You’re full of it.

At the early hour in which I write these words on Friday morning, there’s very little actual reporting of the meeting itself, so I’ve been forced to rely on limited reports on KTVU and on Twitter…excuse me, “X.” The videos on the latter tell the story: the huge audience might have been carrying flaming pitchforks as they chased the monster. Only Frankenstein at least had some sympathetic qualities. Price has none.

She tried to flummox her questioners with complicated legalese; they weren’t buying. She overlooked proven facts; the audience wouldn’t let her get away with it. She lied: “We are not here to point fingers at the police.” What a crass, brazen joke. All Price has done throughout her career is point fingers at the police, and the audience knew it.

She lectured the audience, like a schoolmarm talking down to a snotty, ignorant crowd of children; the audience saw through her arrogance. She bragged about her “seasoned deputies,” while everyone knows she fired the most competent Deputy DAs, like Butch Ford. Even Darwin BondGraham, whose Oaklandside publication consistently supports Price, called the meeting “chaotic.”

Price is under attack even outside Oakland; the Livermore police chief just harshly criticized Price for her lenient treatment of a perp who violently attacked two women during a robbery.

Keep in mind that, in the upcoming recall, all the voters of Alameda County will cast ballots. Price is widely mistrusted in the suburban parts of south and east county; her supporters are limited to a dwindling number of progressives in Berkeley, Oakland and Hayward, but even they are beginning to have their doubts.

At this point, if you asked me for a prediction, I’d say Price will be recalled. Of course, there’s a long way to go: The recall people don’t even have a website yet, nor have they announced a plan for the public to contribute through an app like PayPal. This is disappointing (and I’ve let Carl Chan know my feelings), but perhaps inevitable. This long march is just beginning; we have to give the organizers time.

More meetings like the Montclair one will be happening later this summer. I urge our readers to stay involved. You’re part of a great, historic movement. When we recall Pamela Price, it will be national news, and the headline will be, “The most woke city in America just fired their woke District Attorney.”
