We’ve had a few technical glitches here at the Blog, so comments weren’t posted in a timely manner. We’ve since fixed that, and all prior comments are now up. We also made a change going forward: comments no longer have to be approved in advance by the site administrator before publication. That means that, if you write a comment, it will go up immediately.
This has its risks and rewards. On the downside, people can write false or defamatory things and post them. (Of course, if we see anything like that, we’ll immediately take it down.) But the upside far outweighs the down. Commenters will never feel like they’re being censored. They’ll have the immediate gratification of seeing their posts published with the stroke of the “Post Comment” button. We think they—you—will like that.
We encourage readers to post comments. We’d like for this site to become a forum for conversation. The Coalition for a Better Oakland continues to evolve, and you, the readers, are part of the process that’s carrying us all forward together. So weigh in! Let us know what you’re thinking!
