It would be inappropriate to post something about Oakland today, what with the Russia invasion of Ukraine. But I will offer these parallels between Putin and Hitler:
March 7, 1936: Hitler invades the Rhineland
March 12, 1938: Hitler annexes Austria
Oct. 1, 1938: Hitler invades the Sudetenland
March 16, 1939: Hitler seizes the rest of Czechoslovakia
Sept. 1, 1939: Hitler invades Poland. World War II begins
In each case, Hitler’s pretext was that he was protecting the rights of Germans in those areas. Hitler also used “false flags” to justify his actions, such as the “Gleiwitz Incident” in Poland.
Hitler’s strategy was “one country at a time.” But when he went after Poland, Great Britain and France could appease him no longer.
Now we come to Putin. Here’s his timeline—so far.
August, 2008: Russia invades the Republic of Georgia
Feb.-March, 2014: Russia annexes the Crimea
Feb. 24, 2022: Russia invades Ukraine
Have a good weekend. Stay safe!
