May 5 - Now that we have our wonderful website up and running, the Coalition for a Better Oakland is looking forward to our next steps to improve the quality of life for Oaklanders.
First and foremost, our energies will be focused on getting new members. What does that mean? It means getting the website out there in as many ways as possible—through nextdoor.com, Facebook, Twitter, as well as print media and political organizations. It means encouraging people to sign up with us, either as Volunteers, as Subscribers, or both. It means managing a database to track our members, so we can continue to hear from them and also to let them know what we’re doing.
Our energies also will be directed toward using our increasing presence to influence policies here in Oakland and in Alameda County. We started CBO because we were frustrated by the inability of current City Hall leadership to get important things done. Every one of us who’s affiliated with CBO feels the same way. We want for Libby Schaaf, for the City Council, for the Police Commission, for the City Manager to hear us! We want to liberate City Hall from the iron grip of the forces that, in our opinion, are preventing our City from moving forward.
Those of you who agree with us can contribute most effectively at this point by sharing cfabo.org with as many people as you can. And ask them to further spread the word. We can become a force in Oakland politics very quickly, if we do things right. Oakland needs us, because Heaven knows it’s not benefiting from the people who are currently running the city.
