On Fridays, I like to review the past week and play a sort of game. Who won the week? Who lost? When it comes to the Pamela Price Recall, I can definitely state that Madame D.A. lost the week. Badly.
The evidence? She’s having rally after rally to keep her job in the face of the Recall. Now, consider that Price has traditionally eschewed publicity. She hates going public with anything, except with a hand-picked audience of supporters. Price has always preferred to do her work in back rooms, away from the public and a media she considers prying and offensive.
But now she’s holding all these public events. She’s rebranded herself as “The People’s D.A.” (maybe we should refer to her as Princess Pam instead of Madame D.A.). She claims the new campaign is “ran [sic] by campaign staff” when, of course, it’s Price herself pulling the strings. She’s trying to con the public into thinking she’s working too hard at fighting crime to have the time to campaign against the Recall, and that it’s her beloved, dedicated staff that’s protecting their boss. Ha ha. If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.
The People’s D.A. also is using the standard conspiracy theories that Trump and his gang use in demeaning their political opponents. One recent tweet from her campaign says “These anonymous trolls want us to think they speak for Alameda County voters…Where are they from and who sent them?” This would be funny if it weren’t so sad. Everybody knows that the Recall Price movement is as grassroots as they get. It’s your neighbors, small businesses and friends who are contributing money and sweat to the Recall. The pathetic irony is that it was a real outsider—George Soros—whose money got Price elected in the first place.
Price is also giving interviews to the media she despises, now that she realizes the Recall is for real. In a recent one, she infamously declared, “The D.A.’s role really has no impact on crime.” This is like saying that homeless encampments really have no impact on the quality of life in our neighborhoods. How Price (or her advisors) expect statements like that to help Price, I cannot understand. I mean, when she declares such nonsense, she might as well simply say in front of the cameras, “I’m a total idiot but I think you voters are stupid enough to believe the crap I peddle.” Voters know when they’re being talked down to. And that’s why they’re going to fire Princess Pam.
Anyhow, she lost the week, and she’s going to lose all the coming weeks too.
Have a wonderful, safe, amazing weekend! Back Monday.
