It’s pathetic, isn’t it, that Cat Brooks hates the police so much, she’s holding a counter-demonstration to protest Chief Armstrong’s “Stand Up for a Safe Oakland” march for peace this afternoon.
I mean, if you’re protesting peace, then what are you for? Violence, I guess.
If Cat Brooks had a normal heart, she’s be marching right beside the Chief. She’d speak out against the murders that plague Oakland, the way the Chief is doing. But poor Brooks can’t speak out against murder. It would be like criticizing her own people, and Cat Brooks is enough of a politician to know that you got to dance with the one that brung ya.
Look at these cop-haters. You have Brooks and her allies on the City Council, Fife, Kaplan and Bas, cutting OPD’s budget and then denying they did. Meanwhile, we have a city that is crumbling all around us. Dirty encampments everywhere, spreading like the plague, more and more every day. Gang violence mounting, and summer has barely started. Cops quitting OPD in droves because they’re sick and tired of being hated on. A termed-out Mayor with her eye on her next political position who has effectively given up on governing. A town that is about to lose its third big-league sports team because the same cop-haters (Fife, Kaplan and Bas) also hate the Oakland A’s. A city with an international reputation for crime. And what are Fife, Kaplan and Bas doing about any of it?
Babbling. Calling everyone who disagrees with them a racist. Attacking the police, the thin blue line that protects us every single day. Cancel-culturing their perceived opponents. Fife is now even claiming that there’s a “silent coup” underway in Oakland against her. Well, I can tell you that I’m getting a lot of emails and texts from people who are fed up with what’s happening to our Town. People are leaving Oakland for safer parts. There’s talk of recalling Fife. Oaklanders expect their elected officials to govern, to make Oakland better, instead of abusing their power and foisting their neurotic anger upon us all. Fife is correct when she senses public opinion moving heavily against her. It’s not a “silent coup” at all, it’s quite open, and it’s the essence of democracy: when a City Council member fails to govern responsibly, the People will do what they have to.
If you’re reading this, please show up today for Chief Armstrong’s march! Noon at the Lake Merritt Amphitheater.
