Here we go!

Tomorrow is Election Day! I have to admit feeling antsy. It’s down to the wire. The Coalition came out strong for Harold Lowe, in D2, and Seneca Scott, for Mayor. We knew both candidates faced an uphill battle. Neither got union funding, because the unions know that Nikki Bas and Sheng Thao are buyable, and will be more pliable in their controlling hands.

Harold remains a long shot, but he’s out there fighting. Bas is enormously unpopular. She’s a bad council member and I believe voters know how damaging she has been for public safety, with her blighted addiction to what she calls “social justice,” which is just her cynical way of grabbing power. As for our Mayoral candidate, Seneca Scott, I’ll make this prediction: He’s gonna do a hell of a lot better than the media thinks. According to the pundits, the race was never about anyone except Loren Taylor and Sheng Thao. Seneca has been instrumental in calling out wokeness. He’s struck a note among the voters fed up with the City Council’s circle jerk, and even though the mainstream media (hello, Oaklandside, KQED and San Francisco Chronicle) did their best to revile him, his message broke through and resonated. When Seneca’s numbers are reported, the establishment is going to have egg on its face.

Turnout this Election in Oakland is said to by abysmally low. For this, I blame decades of untransparent governance on the part of our Mayors and City Council members. Why would anyone go to the trouble of voting when so little is known about who governs the city, what their real motives are, what secret deals they strike with unions and each other, and where all the money goes? We have to face the fact that Oakland functions more like a banana republic than a true democracy. If I weren’t me—passionate about politics—I might not vote either, especially if I were in my twenties.

But we still have one more day to vote! Here’s a late message from Harold Lowe, his final call for volunteers. Please do what you can!

Hello,

We are in our last stretch!

Today, please meet at 728 Arimo between 2:30 and 3:30 so we can send you out with others.

Monday, please let us know your availability for walking and calling, and we will assign a role for you.

If you are available and interested to support,  here are some things to consider:

1) Telephone calls.  We have a list for you and we can help you with some things to say.

2) On site canvassing.  Our district is 55k strong, so there are some places that still need to be reached.

3) Election Day Support.  We need people from 7am-8pm to help with the last minute efforts.

4) Sharing messages:  share the website  (haroldfordistrict2.com), encourage people to donate, write about us on social media.  Share information for people who still want signs, who still have questions.

5) PARTY

We'd like you to be available to go to Cafe Lakeview to show how much we appreciated you supporting the campaign.

6pm 2834 Lakeshore Avenue  (just a few storefronts up from the Our Lady Of Lourdes church)
